Features

Everything ShareDesk does

Remote support for Mac and Windows, from the first click to the invoice. Here is the complete list.

Connecting

One ID, one click

The customer reads out nine digits and accepts. No account, no port forwarding, no VPN on their side.

Mac, Windows and browser

Help from a Mac, a PC or any current browser; support Macs and Windows PCs.

Works behind strict firewalls

Nothing to configure on either side, even in hotels, offices and on mobile data.

Reconnects by itself

After a network drop, sleep or a Wi-Fi or VPN change the session picks up again without a new request.

Knows why it ended

If the other side restarts, shuts down, logs out or updates, you're told why, and ShareDesk waits and reconnects.

Tabs and several computers

Open computers in tabs, or connect to several selected computers at once.

Several technicians at once

Invite a colleague into a session with a link, to help or to take it over; each ends only their own connection.

Files only

Browse and transfer files without sharing the screen.

Terminal only

Open a shell on the remote computer without its screen; the customer is asked and sees what you type.

Connect from the website

Connect buttons in your web account open the app directly, or the web viewer if the app isn't installed.

Online at a glance

The address book and the new-connection window show which computers are online or in a session, with their desktop picture.

Wake-on-LAN

Wake a sleeping computer from the app or the website.

Picture

Feels local

About one frame of delay, and the pointer is drawn on your side so it never lags.

5K and 6K, pixel for pixel

Native resolution, several monitors or all of them in one view, fit, fill or original size.

Smooth on fast displays

Up to 120 frames per second on ProMotion screens and up to 240 on high-refresh monitors.

Sharp Text

Text and code stay crisp and exact, without the blur of video, even on slow connections (Mac to Mac). Powered by ShareDesk Crisp.

Adapts to the line

Adjusts to slow or busy connections within seconds, and a still screen sharpens step by step.

Your choice of quality

Lowest latency, balanced or best quality; Retina, 1.5× or standard resolution; fewer colors or grayscale for very slow lines.

Follows the action

Follow the remote pointer or keyboard focus across monitors.

Full screen

Work in full screen with a toolbar that hides itself, or without your own menu bar at all, so the pointer reaches the remote menu bar.

Stays awake

The remote display doesn't go to sleep during a session and wakes when you move the mouse.

Keyboard and mouse

Any keyboard layout

Typing works with any layout on either side, including dead keys and AltGr, and in apps and games.

Shortcuts go where you mean them

⌘Tab, ⌘Space and friends reach the remote computer; hold a key of your choice to keep a shortcut local.

Keys menu for Mac and Windows

Special combinations for the system on the other side, from Force Quit to Ctrl+Shift+Esc and Win+L.

Force quit from a list

End hanging apps on the remote Mac with one click.

Macros

Save key combinations and text such as commands or user names and send them from the Keys menu.

Touch in the browser

Tap to click, long-press, scroll with two fingers and use an on-screen keyboard.

Files, clipboard and printing

Copy and paste files

Copy files on one computer and paste them on the other, in both directions.

Drag and drop

Drag files and whole folders in and out, or drop them onto the remote screen.

Through nested sessions

Copy, paste and drag files and folders through a session inside a session, as deep as the sessions go; the computers in between keep no copy.

Files window

Browse the remote computer, download and upload, with speed and time remaining.

Faster transfers

Documents and logs arrive several times faster thanks to on-the-fly compression.

Clipboard both ways

Text, images and screenshots sync automatically; password-manager entries only when you paste.

Printing both ways

What the customer prints comes out of your printer or as a PDF, and what you print comes out of a printer at the customer's, once they allow it.

Talking

Chat

A shared chat for the customer and all technicians, with private messages and the history for anyone who joins later.

Sound and microphone

Hear the remote computer and talk to the customer, with push-to-talk if you like; sound stays in sync with the picture.

Draw on the screen

Arrows, boxes, circles and a pen in several colors to show where to click, fading out if you like.

Switch sides

Show the customer your own screen with one click.

Chats kept with the session

Reread, copy or save a session's chat later from the session log.

Support tools

Terminal

Open a shell on the remote computer: zsh on a Mac, PowerShell on Windows.

Private network (beta)

Join your computer and the customer's, Mac or Windows, as if in one network, and if the customer allows it, reach the devices in their network too, with a list of them.

Tunnels

Reach the customer's router, printer or any device in their network, with ready-made presets; the internet only if the customer allows it.

Restart and reconnect

Restart the remote computer; ShareDesk checks first that you'll get back in and reconnects by itself.

Computer info

User, system, model, processor, memory, disks, displays, battery and network, also kept in your address book.

Recording and screenshots

Record a session as a video, automatically if you like, and take screenshots.

Notes in the session

See and edit the notes of the computer and its groups while you work.

Quick notes and tasks

Jot a note or a task for later during a session with one shortcut; open tasks come back next time you connect to that computer.

Software updates

See the macOS updates waiting on the remote Mac and open Software Update there.

Diagnostics

Get a diagnostics report from the remote computer.

Connection statistics

A floating panel with route, delay, resolution and data rate.

Security and privacy

End-to-end encrypted

Everything travels encrypted directly between the two computers; our server only connects them.

Verified devices

Known computers and technicians are recognized, and a security code can be compared on both screens.

Clear consent

The customer sees who is asking, picks each permission and accepts; accidental clicks are prevented.

Permissions during the session

Control, clipboard, files, sound, terminal and more can be switched off at any time.

Always visible

A banner shows who is connected; it can be moved or shrunk to a photo, and hides or ends the session with one click.

Privacy mode and view only

Black out the customer's screen, block their input, or only point and watch; Esc three times gives control back.

Unattended access

Reach your own computers with a password and optional two-factor codes, also at the login window.

Trusted technicians

Customers can trust a technician once or permanently through an invitation, and remove them again.

Allow and block lists

Limit who may connect, block IDs or addresses, and refuse an ID for good.

Protection against guessing

Repeated wrong passwords lock the ID for a while.

Lock and time out

Lock the computer when a session ends, and end idle sessions automatically.

Managed by your organisation

IT can lock settings and switch features such as terminal, file transfer, tunnels or the private network off with a configuration profile (MDM) on the Mac or Group Policy on Windows.

Team and address book

Organisations, departments and categories

Nest groups freely and move computers and groups by drag and drop.

Tags

Label computers such as “Server” or “VIP”, then filter and search by them.

Several at once

Select computers to move, tag, share or delete them together.

Notes

Notes for computers and whole groups, shown wherever you need them.

Share with the team

Share computers or whole groups, read-only or editable.

Profiles

Connect as yourself for different companies, with name, company, contact and photo.

Invitation links

Send a link; the customer's computer joins your address book with the access they choose.

New computer, same history

Change a computer's ID after a reinstall or replacement and keep its history.

Time and billing

Session log

Every session with time, duration, files and notes, synced across your devices.

Hourly rates

Rates per technician, organisation, group or computer, in any currency.

Billing steps

Bill exact minutes or per started 5, 15 or 30 minutes, per organisation if you like.

Live time and cost

The menu bar on the Mac and the session window on Windows show how long you've been connected and what it costs.

Adjust single sessions

Mark a session as not billable or change its billed time or rate.

Export

Download the session log with time and amounts as a spreadsheet file.

Web account

Dashboard

Sessions, time and revenue per period, computers online now, recent sessions and a chart per day.

Health notices

Low disk space, weak battery, long uptimes and computers you haven't reached for a while.

Team management

Add members, set roles, reset passwords and see who was active when.

Everything in the browser

Manage computers, groups, profiles, invitations and the session log from any device, phones included.

Apps and updates

Automatic updates

Updates install by themselves when ShareDesk is idle and it restarts within seconds.

Signed and notarized

Every update is signed and checked before it installs, and the Mac app is notarized by Apple.

Always at hand

Starts at login, lives in the menu bar or notification area, with sessions and recent computers.

Windows without installing

Run it straight from Downloads for a one-off session, or install it without administrator rights.

Older Macs too

Every Mac from macOS 10.15 on: the download picks the right build by itself, and Macs up to 12.2 get the full ShareDesk too, from screen and control to terminal, private network and account.

Guided setup

A short guide with pictures sets up the permissions macOS needs.

Your way

Toolbar in light or dark like your Mac, with labels under the icons if you like; every change listed when an update arrives.

Your language

The Mac and Windows apps speak English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch; light and dark appearance.

Try it on your next support call.

For Mac and Windows, or straight from the browser. Your customer only needs the app.
